Live in Berlin

Less Details

Software-Defined Vehicles are transforming automotive systems into flexible, software-centric platforms that enable continuous enhancement of vehicle functionality. The focus lies on the European SDV landscape, with emphasis on the technical realization of vehicle software updates, including over-the-air mechanisms. A concrete implementation scenario illustrates how complex software stacks are managed, deployed, and validated within vehicle environments while maintaining cybersecurity and functional safety. The work defines the current state of the art, the underlying research objectives, and the implementation targets for scalable and interoperable SDV architectures.

Join this session and learn more about:

  • Technical analysis of the European SDV ecosystem and current research directions
  • Deep dive into OTA software update architectures, communication protocols, and security layers
  • Examination of an implementation scenario addressing software management and version control

The Oldenburg-based DLR Institute Systems Engineering for Future Mobility researches methods for developing and safeguarding automated and autonomous transportation systems of the future. The focus is on the development of new, efficient systems engineering methods and tools for proving functionality (verification) and practical suitability (validation) as well as the further development of trustworthy systems. Increasing system complexity, new solution approaches such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and a shift in tasks between humans and technology require new methods of validation and authorisation. This is a major challenge for the introduction of future generations of transport systems. In its four departments "Systems Theory and Design", "System Evolution and Operation", "Application and Evaluation" and, last but not least, "Safe Automation Maritime Systems", the institute deals with key issues relating to the technical trustworthiness of integrated control systems through to complete transport systems in the automotive, shipping and rail sectors.
